Operationalization of Interorganizational Fairness in Food Systems: From a Social Construct to Quantitative Indicators

Fairness issues within food systems are of increasing concern for policy makers and other stakeholders. Given the topicality relevance fairness systems, there is value in exploring subject further. Simulation modelling has been successfully used to develop test interventions. However, subjectivity intangibleness perceptions make them difficult operationalize a quantitative model. The objective this study facilitate research on using simulation by defining social construct model operational terms. operationalization conducted two steps. First, conceptually defined terms its dimensions, antecedents, consequences literature interorganizational fairness. Then, focusing specifically conceptual definition as basis identification proxy indicators Seven groups factors related were identified during conceptualization phase: financial outcomes, power, environmental stability, information sharing, relationship quality, controls. From these factor groups, five that identified: profit margin an indicator distributive four procedural market power bargaining power.
